Westfield Chermside restore 3 hour free parking
Westfield Chermside has recently increased the cost of their paid parking and reduced free parking from three hours to two.
Many groups in our community will be disadvantaged by these changes, including families with young children, senior citizens and people with a disability whose visits may extend over longer periods of time.
Hourly parking charges have also been increased.
In the middle of a global pandemic, and with many people working reduced hours or receiving JobKeeper and JobSeeker payments, it’s a cost few can afford.
We are calling on Westfield Chermside to reinstate 3 hour free parking for all visitors and to commit to better engagement with the local community before any future changes to paid parking.
We acknowledge the Turrbal and Jagera people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live.
We pay our respect to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
